Search Engine Submissions

I offer a basic search engine submission service. I only submit to a very small number of engines because the vast majority of searches are done via these few, either directly or indirectly. Search portals found on ISP home pages, for example, do not spider the internet themselves, but simply draw results from the major search engines. For example, Tiscali and AOL search use Google results.

There are four major spidering search engines, although these days we could say that there is one major spidering search engine, Google, and three other significant players, MSN, Yahoo and Ask Jeeves. The best method of submission is actually to obtain quality links from good websites. Spidering search engines follow links as they trawl the internet and if they find links to your site from sites they have already indexed and regard as significant, your site is much more likely to be indexed.

As part of my search engine optimisation service, I offer to assist you in exchanging relevant links with relevant websites by ensuring that the links are coded, written and positioned correctly for optimal search engine effect. However, I rely on you to pre-arrange the link exchange. This can take a long time, and therefore I do offer a basic search engine submission service to get you started. For this I submit a basic sitemap to Google and Yahoo. I also submit to MSN. (At present there is no facility for direct submission to Ask Jeeves (aka Teoma) - so if you want to be indexed by them you will have to have links on sites they already index pointing to yours).

Because search engines follow links from other websites, I also provide a search engine friendly sample HTML code snippet that you can send to the webmasters of friendly websites.

For my basic search engine submission service I charge £30 if I have built or manage your website. Please note that this is no guarantee that your site will be indexed and it is certainly no guarantee that your site will be positioned highly for your important key phrases. If you want to give your site a fighting chance in being indexed by search engines for significant key phrases you will need to use my search engine optimisation service.
